DIY, Organic Night-time Facial Moisturizer
Finding chemical free facial moisturizers is no easy task.
I know they exist, but, being able to actually locate and purchase them has proven to be very difficult, especially in the small Alberta town where I live. While I did have a little bit of luck finding a few natural products online, honestly, the price-tag, along with the shipping and handling fee, kiboshed that idea super quick!
But, the thing is, after becoming aware of the many chemicals our facial products are laced with, continuing to use those products on my face sort of terrified me.
I sought out the ingredients in some of the products I was using on a daily basis. I found ingredients such as, sodium laureth sulfate, formaldehyde-releasing preservatives and parfum, (a.k.a. fragrance) all which are found to contribute to cancer. I was floored. Call me naive, but I had just assumed that the products I was using would actually be safe for my skin. I did a little research and found that many highly revered, expensive, and widely sought after facial products contain chemicals which are harmful to your skin.
Why this is even allowed is beyond my comprehension.
Our skin is our largest detoxifying organ. So, the idea of intentionally rubbing harmful products into it seems ludicrous to me.
But, let's face it. The vast majority of need to use a facial moisturizer. Especially if, like me, you live in a dry environment.
In the end, after doing a little research, I came up with a DIY recipe that works beautifully for my dry skin. It is very cost effective, and 100% natural.
The recipe includes coconut oil which boasts benefits like, moisturization, wrinkle reduction, offering a minimal but natural SPF protection of 4, and it works against premature aging.
Rose-hip oil is new to me. I've never used it before, but since discovering it's remarkable properties, I've been searching for other ways, besides in my moisturizer, to use it. Rose-hip oil contains essential fatty acids like omega 3 and omega 6. It nourishes and re-hydrates dry skin, smooths fine lines and wrinkles, and gives your skin a beautiful, healthy glow.
Honestly though, my favorite ingredient in this recipe is the frankincense. It is thought that frankincense oil may help in healthy skin cell regeneration. It's useful for treating dry skin, reversing signs of aging and reduces the appearance of scars. Plus, it smells amazing!
This moisturizer has a gorgeous silky texture! It absorbs into my skin lickity split, and leaves my face feeling smoother and softer, and with a more even tone. I've also noticed that my wrinkles seem less defined. I've been using this for approximately a month now, and I love the results!
This 100% natural facial moisturizer is a wonderful alternative to using pre-packaged products, many of which are laced with harmful chemicals, and come with a costly price tag.
Your face, and your wallet, will thank you!
P.S. While this was originally made as a night-time facial moisturizer,
I use it during the day, too.
